BIRCHOVER MIRES TROUGH
BIRCHOVER WATER TANK and PUMP
The Mires trough was the original water supply for Birchover village and was supplied by local springs. It was repaired and restored in 2003. Nearer to the village centre is the covered over stone water tank and empty pump support. From the 1880s Birchover had three public taps fed from a reservoir; another two were added 50 years later. The all dried up by August or September and then the only supply was a spring behind the Druid Inn.
