Iron Tors pump house
The sign reads –
RAM PUMP HOUSE
ORIGINALLY BUILT TO
PUMP WATER TO
WORKED BY WATER
It was common practice to use the river water to power a pump or in some cases a waterwheel to pump fresh spring water to higher ground.
This one can be found north of Coldeaton Bridge at SK145563 and is marked on the map as Iron Tors.
