This guidestoop is to be found at the junction of Little Morton Road and St Lawrence's Road on the T junction at SK409648 opposite the ‘The Gate’ public house (which was probably originally a toll house).
An Inscription on the base reads -
THIS ANCIENT STONE HERE PRESERVED, IS THE BASE AND PART OF THE SHAFT OF THE MEDIEVAL VILLAGE CROSS.
THE WORDS ON IT SHOW THAT IT WAS UTILISED AS A GUIDEPOST AFTER SUCH WERE ORDERED TO BE SET UP AT CROSS WAYS IN THE YEAR 1702.
